In 1968 Wisconsin, a college girl is torn between love and loyalty between her husband serving in Vietnam and a draft dodger who challenges her passions and ideals amid the chaos of a turbulent era.

Wildflower Awakening, formerly known as The Girl with the Dark Red Hair, has already racked up fifteen awards on FilmFreeway. The newly revised script is expected to garner first place awards in 2026. The screenplay is a fictional adaptation of Carole and William’s memoir, The Hardest Year: A Love Story in Letters During the Vietnam War.

Carole credits persistence and hard work for her first successful screenplay. She wishes to thank her initial screenwriting teacher, Edward Pomerantz, who suggested including a love triangle element and also her mentor know by her initials as S.K. from the ReelHeART International Film and Screenplay Festival for her successes.
